Since 2009, The Powergoats have been an Ottawa rock outfit delivering a strong range of musical dynamics and live shows that have entertained thousands of people. Led by singer-songwriter Jamie Douglas (lead vocals, guitar, harmonica, keyboard), the sounds of his seven-piece band have been described as 'pre-soaked in blues-rock and soul, with a hint of rusty folk'. Influences for their stylings include Dire Straits, The Allman Brothers, and classic Rolling Stones with vocals recalling David Bowie, Jim Cuddy, and Michael Hutchence. Stepping out in front of his band for the first time, Jamie has steered his recent writing to a more personal and intimate direction with recent singles ('I'm Running' and 'Don't Go Falling', 2017) and material on their upcoming 2019 LP 'Blue Canoe' (previewed in autumn 2018 with 'Bat Lake' and 'Beautiful Vultures'). Joining Jamie Douglas in the studio and onstage are), Andrew Burns (bass, vocals and keyboards), Wes Reed (drums), Jeff Logan (lead guitar), DeeDee Butters (backing vocals), Zeek Gross (saxophone) and Kelly Craig (trumpet).
The Powergoats have shared stages with Rise Against, The Lost Fingers, The Free Press, The Joe Crown Trio, Brock Zeman, James McMurtry, Malak, Jasper Bridge, Jillian Kerr, Bearshark, The Clint Everson Band, Ty Hall, Hearts&Mines, Lloyd Smiley, Cold Capital, Arms of the Girl, The Superlative, Three Times Lucky, Etoile Noir, Wake the Wolf, and Tribe Royal among others. The Powergoats have enjoyed Ottawa radio support from CBC Radio One, Live 88.5 FM, CHUO FM, CHIP 101.7 FM, 101.9 DAWG FM, and CKDJ 107.9. Other studio releases include 'Moonlit Crimes' (demo 2010), 'Bottled Sunset' (2012), 'Ruby Headlights' (2014). The Powergoats (via Jamie Douglas) have been members of The Ottawa Music Industry Coalition since October 2016.
