The Powergoats are an Ottawa rock outfit delivering a strong range of musical dynamics and live shows that have entertained thousands of people for over a decade. Led by singer-songwriter Jamie Douglas, the sounds of this seven-piece band have been described as 'pre-soaked in bluesy roots-rock with a hint of rusty folk'. Influences range from Dire Straits, Blue Rodeo, David Bowie, and The Allman Brothers. Jamie Douglas has steered his recent writings towards a more personal and intimate direction with their thirds and most recent full album Blue Canoe (October 2019). Joining Jamie Douglas are Andrew Burns (bass, vocals, keyboards), Wes Reed (drums), Jeff Logan (lead guitar), DeeDee Butters (vocals), Zeek Gross (saxophone) and Kelly Craig (trumpet), and Erik Johnson Scherger (violin). Jamie has been know to pair down the line-up considerably and plays many shows in solo, duo, trio, and four-piece line-ups.
With three RBC Ottawa Bluesfest shows and one Cityfolk show under their belts, The Powergoats have shared stages with Rise Against, The Lost Fingers, The Free Press, The Joe Crown Trio, Brock Zeman, Etoile Noire, James McMurtry, Malak, Jasper Bridge, Jillian Kerr, Bearshark, The Clint Everson Band, Ty Hall, Hearts&Mines, Lloyd Smiley, Three Times Lucky, Wake the Wolf, and Tribe Royal among others. The Powergoats have enjoyed Ottawa radio support from CBC Radio One, Live 88.5 FM, CHUO FM, CHIP 101.7 FM, 101.9 DAWG FM, and CKDJ 107.9.
